Shipping setup that makes sense to customers (and ops)
Shipping isn’t “set and forget.” It’s pricing psychology, carrier logic, and clear comms working together.

Start with an overview
Understand your current shipping model: flat-rate, carrier-calculated, or hybrid. Keep options simple (cheap, fast, or free threshold). Too many choices increase abandonment.
Design a logical matrix
Define zones, methods, and product rules. Heavy, bulky, or dangerous goods need explicit logic. Document exceptions (e.g., remote postcodes, freight-free categories). Test with common baskets and postcodes before going live.
Carrier confidence
If using Australia Post/eParcel, validate labels and manifest flow, and ensure product dimensions are accurate — that’s where most quoting errors begin. Reconcile rates quarterly and adjust thresholds to protect margin while staying competitive.
Communicate clearly
Show delivery estimates and costs early. Set realistic dispatch times on PDP and in checkout. After purchase, send tracking promptly and link to help content.
